Okay my first Marathon (Marine Corps) is less than a week away, and I'm dealing with a very high level of anxiety. It is exciting but stressfull.
I have 3 concerns;
1. Do I have enough miles under my belt? I've been averaging 45 miles a week for the last 8 weeks. I have 5, 20+ mile runs completed. Yesterday was my last long run of 13. I plan to run 2, six mile runs this week (Tue, Thurs.) and then rest until the race.
2. What and how much do I eat this week? I think I know what I will eat the morning of the race, but what do I eat this week. Less, more, than usual, all carbohydrates, protein?
3. Injury? I've had pressure point pain in my hamstrings and glute nmuscle since June, it keeps getting worse little by little. I've been able to run thorugh it thus far. And I have every intention of running through it during the Marathon.
So these are my concerns going into this race. Plus the anticipation, I've been training for 8 months for this. But the wait is killing me.
I've been reading this Bulletin Board regularly and have taken a lot of your advice. Hopefully, this will all work out. I'll see on Sunday.
