Hi! Congrats on running your first marathon and good luck with training for your second! I have the same problem when I run on busy streets, and I feel worried when I run on more deserted side streets that I am all alone with no one watching. So I prefer to run on trails. Are there any running trails in your city/town? You may have to drive your car/ ride your bike to one, but then you can park and run. I love running on running/ bike trails because you can be all alone with only other runners/ bikers around, and I don't have to worry about traffic or deserted alleys! I would highly recommend finding a running or bike trail in your area.

This may not be practical if you live in a dorm, but eventually, how about getting a dog to run with? I run with mine, a corgi mix who isn't very big or menacing, but she makes me feel safer because people don't know if she would bite or not. :) I would love to get a bigger dog if I had more room for it. Of course, I can't take her on my very long runs or my speedwork runs, but on many runs (up to an hour and a half, unless it's hot) she can keep right up. So perhaps that might help, whenever you can get one.

Good luck! :) ~Anita.
