That's an intresting moniker "Hot Pickle" I'm sure there an equally interesting story to go along with it.

To answer you question. I've used many supplements with varied success. I've tried creatine, protein drinks, amino acid tablets, and even a high dose caffeine/PPA mix from a reputable supplement company.

My advice - do NOT take slim fast or anything that has any levels of phenolpropoanaline (PPA). Although it has been proven to cause heart and pulminary problems in only a few people (why chance it.) As a runner, you are already putting a healthy amount of stress on your heart. As a runner, you should also be able to eat with some inpunity.

I consider a well balance diet with nice kicker of some good desserts like chocolates and cakes as a reward for my effort. I don't over do it. But, again treat yourself to something lavish and leave the slim fast to the couch potatoes.

As for the proteins and vitamins. I still take them. I especially watch my protein intake because I do not want loose muscle mass.

George
