I have an In-Step and I like it a lot, but you are right, there are tons of them out there.
There are two features that I think are crucial. First, it should have a good wind/rain cover, ideally, built into it. If you are running and get caught in a storm you want to be able to protect the child.
The second is that it need to have good storage space for toys, books, snacks, juice boxes, etc...
As far as the rest of the details are concerned, just run with a few of them and see which you like. They are all pretty easy to use. You will get used to it quickly.
And be sure to use the wrist strap! You don't want the stroller to get away from you. :)
