Long runs and time lost

I have about seven weeks left before my marathon in Tampa (Hops), and I have been following my traing schedule as faithfully as I can. I am 2 runs past 20 miles and have two more before I start my tapper.

OK, heres my question. As I increased my milage I found that after my long runs it takes me about a week to get my short run speed back. Is that normal? I really hate seeing the numbers I see, and when I do, I think I wasn't giving it my all and using the long run as an excuse.

Please tell me I'm lying to myself, and that I really do slow down after a long run.

thanks.... Sheldon.
