But what does quitting mean?

Agreed, I feel as if I have won when I can run reasonably hard the whole way.

But, as far as quitting, for me that doesn't just include taking a DNF. There have been times where I've quit in a race but still officially finished; those were the times where I got discouraged and just "went through the motions" toward the end of the race.

Also, I consider it to be a loss when I've to stop and walk due to either poor pacing or poor race preparation. (I am not talking about planned walk breaks here)
