Thanks everyone for replying with such speed and passion... I'm actually a Digital Arts major at Stetson University in Central Florida... Right now there is a group of us doing a series on mediocrity... The idea of marathon runners came to me since so many people are involved and there can only physically be one "winner". I wanted to see how runners viewed themselves and why they participate even if they might never "win" as it were. Again, I appreciate everyone's response, and I apologize for not coming straight out with what I was doing... I just wanted to get the most honest responses, not a response based on the knowledge it was going to be used as a piece of art.
