Maybe it sounds like a silly question, yet I'd still like some advice. I have been training for my first marathon and decided that I'd make it one to really remember, by running the Florence International on Thanksgiving weekend. Since the Sept. 11 attacks, my running buddy is on the fence about international air travel. She's suggesting we opt for Seattle instead. I am looking for advice/assurances that a) Seattle is a good first race for a 40 yr. old amature runner or b) Florence is a great race and travel safe. Any thing to pursuade her would be great.
