I've done 3 marathons. Two of them were "continous" (meaning no walk breaks). The last one with walk breaks as professed by guru Jeff Galloway.
Here is what I found. Training was easier because the walk breaks help recovery. I was able to work on my lactic threshhold. My times showed progressive improvements. Finally, I could run two days after the marathon with little soreness.
If you incorporate walk breaks - at a minimum do them in the first 3 - 5 miles.
Have fun. Remember its supposed to be challenging and fun.
