The term "Penguin" was coined by John Bingham. When he first started running he was overweight and out of shape. He saw his imagine in a store window and thought he looked like a penguin. John Bingham has written a few books with titles like _Marathoning for Mortals_ and _No Need for Speed_ which are very motivational for newer/slower runners and the penguin term has really caught on.

Anyway... what I meant was that not many people post in this thread. Just look at the dates on the threads. Participation is pretty sporadic. If you want to walk a marathon, then you'll get much more support on a board that is geared specifically to walkers. If you want to run/walk, then you might do better here.
