I run middle school cross country. I'm getting ready for the final touches for the city meet coming up on Oct. 9. At the very beginning of the race there are two hills about 100m each hill with an equal down hill length. The hills are about 10%-15% grade. After the two hills the course is flat. The length is only 1 1/4 mi. I usually run races with hills at the end, but I don't have much experience with hills at the very start. Do you have any suggestions on how I should run the hills? Thanks.
