I ran the Philly race in 2000. It is a mostly flat course. There are some hills around miles 8-9 near the zoo. Nothing major. In Manayunk around mile 20 there is a hill but again it's not a long one. The only bridge you cross is near mile 21 after Manayunk and it's actually an overpass. It was a bit steep but very short. I just ran it gently to save the legs before the way back to the Art Museum. I am NOT a good uphill runner so the hills I can tell you are of not much concern. The one that is most bothersome was the last mile back to the finish, it's a very gradual uphill but seems like an eternity because you are just waiting for cross the line!
