I never had any swelling or bruising or anything like that associated with mine, so the compression and elevation aspects of RICE wouldn't have done much, and well, the rest part was out of the question, so I would ice a few times a day. I iced basically anytime I had been on my feet or walking for a while.

I don't know about you but I found that NSAIDS and COX-2 inhibitors didn't really help, so I just stopped taking drugs for it all together. Of course keep up on nutrition/supplement with a multivitamin, and I also took a glucosamine/chondroitin sulfate supplement (although i'm not sure if it helped or not). Certainly though the heel cups were the quickest way to get relief.
