Buzzy gave you very good advice but be warned that riding with a cycling club involves a technique which is (happily) forbidden in triathlons: drafting (drafting-legal races are allowed only in elite race and this ridiculous lifting of the rule was done only to satisfy television - because pack riding, which is contrary to the spirit of an individual sport like triathlon, looks better on TV).
"Pure" cyclists find it hard to adjust to the non-drafting rule.
