You have two months left before your 11/18/01 marathon. As others suggest, that may not be adequate time for you to heal and train. Here are some suggestions:
1. Try alternative exercises that will not bother your heel. These could be elliptical trainers, stair climbers, bikes, or mutiple repititions of leg presses with low weights. None of these will equal the benefits of a long run, but they might help you mentally to be believe that you are still marathon training. It is also possible that you won't be able to do any of these exercises because of your injury.
2. Don't run for several weeks. As others suggest, see a doctor during this period.
3. After your heel recovers, determine whether you still have time to train for your marathon. If not, there are numerous small local marathons in December, January, and February that you could enter, as well as some fairly large marathons in Florida. Check out this site's Marathon Directory for alternative races.
