Don't think that the 2 week difference between the Army 10m and the MCM is a coincidence. Rather, the popularity of the Army 10m is partly due to the fact that it is an ideal training run for the marathon. It is also fun and scenic. So join the other marathon trainers and run the Army 10m!
Your plan to run the Army 10m at your marathon pace may not be satisfactory. I tried that tactic once and was greatly disappointed in my time. You will feel better about your performance if you treat the Army 10m as speed training, and run it at your 10m pace. I'm not suggesting you try to set a lifetime PR in the Army 10m, but do run somewhat faster than marathon pace so that you won't be embarrassed by your published finishing time. If you are still strong after 7 or 8 miles, then pick up your pace even more for a decent finishing time.
See you at both races!
