I am restarting this thread at the top as it doesn't get much attention at the bottom of the list. I am starting a plan of attack to do a sub-3h marathon (26 weeks of training). I've done one marathon in 3:09, three halfs- best 1:24:30, and a 10K pb of 39:12. A previous poster mentioned the strategy of doing a 35 mile run 4 weeks before the marathon. how slowly would you do it? 5:00, 5:15, 5:30/k? Does anyone agree with doing a fast half marathon 3 weeks before the marathon or simply keep to a taper? I plan to build up to 110-130 k/week.
