Thanks for the detailed advice. I'm in a two month holding pattern at the moment, before I start my training. I plan to do some speed work to get my 10K time down (comparing my times to some other results on the web site I noticed that my 10K time should be quicker, although I was happy recently to break 40 mins for the first time!) I'm 46 and have been increasing my mileage and running regularily for 1 year. I've always had trouble preventiong myself from going out fast, even in training runs. I was thinking yesterday that I should try to negative split some of my runs, however the idea of doing LT pace at the end of a run sounds like a great idea. Hopefully it should help me finish stronger. Thanks again for the advice and I'll incorporate more speed work into my training.
