I broke my leg about 4 months ago. It was terrable because it was right before a marathon I was hoping to qualify for boston in. Like you, I was out of commission for 3 months. My running partner encouraged me to take up some other work out routine in order to keep myself in the habit of working out. I did sit up's, weight lifting, I even tried some pilaties. When the end of the 3 months came and I was able to ease my way back into running it wasn't nearly as painful as I though it was going to be. A month latter I'm almost back up to where I was.
I recovered nicely and my leg doesn't hurt too much. If I do push myself too hard though it some times will ache a little but nothing a little IB won't cure.
