I guess you are right, Hopkinton. It's just that I put a lot of focus on the drills (very often as a substitute for the long runs we can't do up here on days when there's too much snow). Still, I find that the drills help me during the race, particularly in difficult spots, in times when I'm trying to concentrate on the task at hand, and, of course, during the very last kilometers... And you know that some races require more of a certain type of training (thank god for downhill repeats while preparing for Boston!). And of course, there's the variety factor...
