I am a midwife and a marathon runner. I have had women athletes come to me precisely because I will almost never say "stop running". I have worked with ultramarathoners, triathletes, professional bicyclists. My big pitch is to listen to your body, and don't try to push through pain or discomfort. I also believe that pregnancy is a good time to work on cross training. Swimming is a great place to do fairly rigorous workouts, because there is very little musculoskeletal strain on the body. That being said, there are very very few of us out there, and the research on training and pregnancy is next to non-existent. But that can be said for almost all of medical research and althletes. Good luck and congratulations!
