No - but I do think that Bambi and several of the other incredibly rude posters here speak for a sizable minority of runners - ones who I think make running a challenge for me and numerous others like me.
You know the crowd. They show up to local 5K races wearing the Boston, NYC, or Chicago gear. They have to tell you about the great time they had running London or Berlin when you are next to them at the starting line during a race. They have to tell you about how they are training for Twin Cities or Disney while hanging around after a race for the awards ceremony when all you want to do is eat your banana, pick up your plaque, and go home. As someone else called herself on this board earlier - the running snobs.
If several of the posters on this board got what they wanted (apparantly 3 hour cutoff times???), marathoning would again become a very marginal sport with only a handful of participants, no press coverage, no endorsement deals or race sponsors, no prize money. There would only be a handful of marathons run nation-wide.
So my friends, run fast or run slow, run alone or with your best friends, run to set a PR (either your time or the amount of money you raise for your favority charity) - JUST RUN the whole race, have fun, realize how lucky so many of us are, get your medal, and go home happy.
