Most of the discussion we've heard about DVT and long plane rides in the media recently has been geared toward people at risk for DVT; usually people with heart disease, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, etc. I don't know of any studies related to marathon runners/long plane rides/DVT risk either, but it only makes sense that we would be at a decreased risk for DVT because our running improves our global circulation. I would be more concerned about increased muscle soreness from pooling of muscle wastes than DVT.
