In the twin cities marathon this year there was a registration limit of 10500 which was filled up back in May. So we can assume that about that many were entered in the race, probably a bit more with the elites, celecrities, and other people the race organizers decided to allow in late.
According to the race results, 8188 people started [about 78%] and 7765 finished [about 95% of those who started]. So we had 22% of the entrants as DNS and 5% of the starters as DNF. According to a friend, a race offical told him that there were about 3 times as many DNFs as they expected. The heat and humidity that day took its toll.
