One thing i don't understand in the large races they supposedly(I've never been in a 10,000+ runner marathon) reopen the course at a 14 1/2 minute pace. But some people in these races start so far back that it takes 10 or more minutes to cross the starting line. How can they be expected to make the cutoff times if they are starting at such a disadvantage? I like the New York idea of having several starting lines on completely different streets and then having all paths join into one several miles into the race. Perhaps Boston could do something like that.
