Make a choice

I am in a similar situation. Although my next marathon is 6 months away.

I have arch pain - probably Plantar Facia (Spelling?) or something with the tendons. Outside chance it could be a stress frature. I can run 2 days pain free, but when I ramp up the speed it hurts - generally it is getting better - I have run 2 weeks with it - 85Miles and 102 miles.

I have made the choice to run through it - I take ibuprofen - 800Mg 4x a day and do an ice/heat treatment 2x a day. I also have been running most runs on a treadmill or rubberized track.

Ice / Heat = I fill one 5 gallon pail will water and ice and the other 5 gallon pail with very hot water. 5 minutes in ice water - 2 minutes in hot water - repeat 5-6 times.

By making this choice - I know that there are risks: 1) Stress fracture - this would be a major problem and very bad to keep running on 2) By running with an injury, you tend to change your stride - and even a little change can cause injuries in other areas 3) The injury may not heal quickly or at all.

The choice is up to you - But either way I would recommend the Ice / Heat treatment 1 or 2x a day.

Good running -
