I believe that I am having IT band problems. I have sharp pain on the outside of my knee. (Talking with other runners seems to confirm the problem as IT Band). I have taken about a week off without running - only biking. I attempted to run yesterday. About 3 miles into my run the pain started. Today, I can barely walk without pain. Biking does not give me any pain - so instead I have biked on the days I am supposed to be running. Any suggestions as to taking care of this injury?

I am trying to run the Detroit Marathon on October 21st. This will be my first marathon. I stopped running when my long run was 12 miles. Any chance that I'll still be able to run???
