It would also help to know the location of the pain. Outside, towards the groin, right in front, just in back?

There are a number of potential problems, such as trochanteric bursitis, hip flexor strain, overly tight hip flexors, stress fractures, etc. Knowing the location might help to narrow things down and decide if its something to recommend excercises/etc for or to have looked at by a sportmedicine expert.
