It sounds like you might be prepping for your first marathon. If so, what evidence suggests that you can maintain 8 minute pace (a 3:30 finish)?

Predictor calculators found at this site may prove useful in establishing a sensible marathon pace for you. See Training Corner in the left menu bar.

To run a 3:30 marathon, you really should first be capable of the following performances: 21:35 5K, 45:13 10K, 1:40 half-marathon. Acheive these times and you'll be ready to handle the 8 minute pace for your marathon.
