A follow up to Sheldon

I respect what Sheldon has to say. I think people can and do abuse substances (including creatine). Having been on the record as saying creatine was "safe". Let me put some parameters on what I've considered safe. My doctor told me that his only concern would be high dosage and the protein's impact on the kidneys. So I followed his advice.

I used a powdered form of creatine for only a three week period (2 weeks before and one week after a marathon). My reasoning for taking it was to retain water and to keep me hydrated. I personally believe that the amount of water you have to drink as a result of taking the powder alone hydrates you even without the creatine itself.

I did experience weight gain (right around the stomach too). I stopped taking it a week after the race. But I would use it again in a limited fashion.
