I've used creatine for training and it works because it reduces lactic acid and also helps retain water.
For long runs both of those features of the product I believe help preformance.
The product is safe but expensive. The only drawback some people (approx 3%) experience water retention around the waste. I was one of the few people that felt bloated
I plan to use it one week before my next marathon. I'd try it for long runs and see how you feel.
