Unfortunately there isn't much you can do except let her know you are interested by a letter or e-mail and try to forget. If she responds then what a pleasant surprise but if not, no problem since you forgot about her anyways. At least you found out before she had you spend a lot of money on her and after you went broke looked elsewhere. Sounds like she has class. Possibly that is why you were interested in her. There always seems to be someone better willing to take your girlfrien/boyfriend away from you. That has always been the case with me. A lot of people think I don't have 'the necessities' that people want in a future mate so I know rejection. So I can understand the pain you must have felt. Enough said. Continue running and racing and hopefully things will get better. If they do let us know.
