Those are all very good reasons for swimming as the perfect cross-trainer; however, what if you don't know how to swim? I can hold my own in a pool, but swimming laps would be asking just a bit much for me. I really don't think I could get a good workout if I really don't know how to swim. Got any suggestions for those that don't know how to swim? Possibly a kickboard? Would that work?
I'm not knocking swimming - I just don't know how. I cross-train with weights and cycling. This doesn't cost too much if you can join a YMCA/YWCA, however, I do have my own bike. I alternate upper-body lifting one week and a long bide on the bike the next week. If I had my choice of a favorite cross-training, it would be cycling, only because that is what is most condusive to me & my talents.
Running still rules!!!!!!!!!!!
