I wonder if it is a ventilation thing. We sweat a ton on long runs.
Have you tried different running shorts/underwear? Are they very breathable and wicking? Most first timers don't realize that after a while most wicking stuff loses its wicking ability with regular washing.
What you are experiencing might just be plain old sweaty body stink!
Also, if you are chafing a lot, you should be using body glide or vaseline.
