While not exactly the training information that you desire, my club's newsletter does describe the results of such a relay race. Go to www.restonrunners.org, then in the upper left click on Newsletter, then on the page for June 2001 Newsletter Articles, read the articles about the Relay for Life. There are three articles, all on the directory on the left side of the page.

The Reston Runners ran one lap at a time rather than 5 miles at a time. Nevertheless, the article might be useful to you because it describes how the runners felt during and after the race. Elated, because they won.
