Zero for upper body. There is only so much time in the day and running and other endurance cross-training exercise is the most important in order to get a quality race time. The lower body weight training sounds like an excellent idea. I never have done it myself but it sounds like it would be helpful to do lower body exercises a couple times a week. It's hard to make time for all the different things a person can do to get in better condition without having a one-track mind and limited interests outside of running.
