Good for you to consider weight training along with your running. For women in general, we need weight baring exercises for bone mass maintenance. I'm no expert either, but I've been serioulsy running for 4 yrs, and have weight trained w/ other cardio activies for the last 19yrs. Depending on what kind of runner you are. For example, if you are a long distance runner...I was advised by an expert to choose exercises w/ lighter weights to lengthen your muscles. Pilates is great, too. Good luck!
