Please, please, please, please, please tell your husband not to do this. The NYC Marathon field has been capped for very good reasons. He won't be able to get onto Staten Island in the morning, so would have to "join" the race after the Verrazano Narrows Bridge, at which point he'd be running something like a 25-mile marathon. I don't know what NYRRC officials do at the end to weed out bandits, but there are plenty of great fall marathons out there. If he doesn't get in on this year's lottery, why not run one of those and try again next year for NYC, when he can be "official" and be a full part of the race experience?
