Congratulations Lisa: you will soon be a marathoner.

It's a good idea to check out this bulletin board once in a while. I've personally benefited from many good (sometimes wise) postings here...

Since you are looking for advice, I'll try to provide something here. You are only starting, so you need to garner as much information as possible (about running and about yourself). Running clubs are not for everyone but you might want to give it a try. A coach and fellow runners can be priceless (I say this while I never had a running coach - only a swimming coach - and I run solo. Both approaches have their merit, but mine is the exception.)

I like to suggest to people who are training for the marathon to enter local (and shorter) races during their training program. This is when I learn to most. And it's just great to exchange with fellow runners.

As far as nutrition goes, I rely on common sense.
