Low calories = low weight

If you weren't getting sufficient calories, you would lose weight. If your weight is stable, then you are getting an adequate number of calories.

Here are some things that I do as a male: * Eat a big breakfast. For me, this is OJ, raisin bran cereal, skim milk, nonfat yogurt, and banana. This is my daily carbo loading. * Wait about 3 to 4 hours before running at midday. * Eat two bagels and a diet soda immediately after the run. This is my daily carbo replacement. * Usually eat two bagels and a diet soda about an hour before dinner. * Weigh myself daily to see if I should eat more or less bagels.

I'm 54, male, 158 lb, run 200+ miles/month. I agree with you that gaining weight now will be counterproductive towards running a good fall marathon.
