What is steep?

Patty, what you are doing as hill training sounds good but I would think that 100 yards is not very long. I think for hill repeats (uphill) 800 to 1,000 meters would be better (for 2 or 3 minute repeats) and longer for downhill repeats. Also, steep might not mean the same for everyone... If you're talking 15 degrees or something like worse, that is very steep - I prefer something in the 5 - 10 degrees range.

If you can't find a longer hill to work at, maybe you ought to start way before you hit it so that you go over the crest of the hill in 2 or 3 minutes, depending on you routine (the hilly part being the last portion of the interval).
