Years ago in college I attempted to take up jogging but found that I would get intense cramps during and immediately following the jogs. I thought I was just out of shape and kept going--however, the cramps got so bad that I quit jogging.

They felt like menstrual cramps (same area and feeling) but more intense than any cramps I've ever had, and also it didn't matter what time of month it was.

When I started on a treadmill at the gym a couple of years ago, the cramps seemed to be ok, and I slowly built up my distance a little. They rarely appear now.

But today, after only 1.5 miles, they came back.

Does anyone else have this problem or know what it is? Any ideas of what I should do about it? Should I see a doctor?
