I, too, am half way to my first marathon and, like you, my motivation comes and goes.

Two things I've found help. One is to join an on-line group. I'm a writer and we have a fitness board where everybody logs their workouts and shares their successes and failures. Knowing I've got a post to do gets me off my butt. Too, I find my doing so motivates others, so I feel kinda obligated.

The other thing I've found that helps is to vary my workout. I try to make some change every month. For instance, June is fartlek month where I'm adding speed work to my Saturday run. May was bike month where I did a lot of biking on 'tween days.

One other thought is not fun, but it is necessary. I find I have to force myself to stay focused. For a time the quality of runs slipped. Now I work at staying aware. I work on something every time I go out, i.e. every run has a goal.

Stick with it and have fun!
