I never have worn them and have run (3) 1/2 marathons and (2) fulls so far... Like others have commented, you might want to get ones w/built-in panties...I lost about 20 pounds before I started running and still have the dreaded leg rubbing problem, so I wear old spandex type shorts... This eliminates my rubbing problem... It's bad enuf to pull up sweaty spandex shorts when you have to stop and pee, than having to make sure the panties aren't bunched and cause discomfort... Decide for yourself by doing a few training runs with and w/out... Good Luck!
