Well kels, Chuck probably has it right: the weight program must have a specific goal. You don't seem like soemone who needs to gain all that much strenght but weight training can help you in many ways - more power, staying power, "explosion", endurance, better overall shape. I think you would be wise to examine the subject a little more (with a coach or a manual) with this question in mind : what do I really want to gain from a weight program? And don't forget that many athletes get their most serious injuries from improper weigh training...
