Hey Kels, just one comment: since you've played basketball and run 5K's, you might want to include some longer "marathon paced" workouts to your routine; perhaps start with 6 miles or so and work up to 15 or more. To see your marathon pace, go to this website's rate time predictor and plug in your 5K time.
I say this because the proper marathon pace will probably seem like walking to you (at least at first) and you might have to practice the slower running that occurs in a marathon race.
