I want to try the elastic laces also. I stopped at Sports Authority on the way home because that store is convenient. Perhaps the laces are only carried in specialty sports stores. I'll keep looking.

Your running shoes do sound too small. There are two standard tests for adequate shoe size -- the thumb and the black toenail:

* The thumb test says your shoe is the minimum size if the width of your thumb exactly fits between the tip of your shoe and the tip of the big toe on your largest foot.

* The black toenail test says your shoe is too small if running pushes any of your toes against the front fabric so violently that a toenail turns black and falls off.
