sorry for the delay and thanks for the response. rechargeable battery life shouldn't be a big issue since i would likely only use it for day trips at most, and most, if not all of it would be runs or bike rides. the only time that i would use it for navigation is out on a big plot of land where i have aerial photos but no maps (there really aren't any obvious navigation points in the everglades - just palmetto bushes and the occasional clump of trees!)
