Personally, I wouldn't take the Forerunner into the woods

I understand that the 201 operates on rechargeable lithium batteries with an average life of only 15 hours. I always go thru a set of batteries on my backpacking trips.

The forerunner 101 operates on AAA bateries, but does not have transfer data capabilities (PC to GPSR).

Not even sure if any of the forerunners have multiple datum selection.

I prefer to navigate with UTM coordinates and a top map.

One can get a forerunner 101 for about $120 and a Garmin Etrex from Walmart for $90.

I have the etrex and love it.
