the greedy, head freezing corporate types here in Odo don't police who actually shows up wearing a number on race morning. They know there are folks in the corrals who have bought their numbers.
As long as someone shells out that overpriced race fee and shows proper ID to pick up the race packet all restrictions are then gone and the race number is free to float wherever.
99% of the race directors here in Central Florida allow deferments to the next year's race if someone becomes injured and cannot run. Proceeds from these races go to help local charities and various do good stuff.
Not Disney. All proceeds go to corporate Disney. If you become injured, tough luck, pay again next year.
I sold my Disney race number last year after being struck down with ITBS. I even told the Disney folks (in writing) that if they didn't give me a refund or deferment that I was going to sell my number to get my money back. They didn't care and I have no remorse.
